Sandy Lane Golf CourseOn the west coast of Barbados, a prestigious five-star property by the name of The Sandy Lane Hotel can be found. Catering to wealthy individuals, stars or statesmen, it has been a part of the landscape of Barbados since 1961. The years have seen changes to the hotel including a major refurbishment project, where a new and re-branded hotel was reopened in the early 2000s.
Apart from its luxurious accommodation and well-maintained grounds, it is famous for its Golf Course, the Sandy Lane Golf Course. In terms of description, there is the Green Monkey which is a 72 par, 7343 yd golf course. An intricate design of a green monkey has been carved out of limestone quarry and forms the shape of this course. Also the Country Club, a 72 par 7060 yard course has been created. It favours lush greens and awe-inspiring ocean views and was the site of the 2006 Barbados World Golf Championship.
There is a 450 yard driving range at the Country Club, on which a practice area has been incorporated on the south side of the range, to be utilized pre and post game only - not while a game is in progress.
Everything that is needed to make a golf game a reality is available at the Sandy Lane Golf Course. Shoes and clubs are available for rental. Golf carts too, with the cost included in the fee for usage of both courses. It is worth mentioning that the use of a caddie is mandatory at this major Barbados golf course. At the Pro Shop designer golf wear, exclusive edition items and other sports memorabilia may be purchased.
The Clubhouse provides a setting for social interaction and guests can sit looking out on the greens while enjoying light cocktails or a satisfying meal.
