St. Christopher's ChurchSt. Christopher's Church is situated at the corner of the roads Green Garden and Enterprise Coast Road on a gentle sloping hill just above the Silver Sands Resort just a stone's throw away from the idyllic Silver Sands Beach on the lovely island of Barbados. This little church has a disproportionately large bell tower with a small cross affixed to its top at the western side of the building. The building itself seems unusually squat in appearance with many beautiful old-looking casement windows running along the length of the building. The entrance to the church is through a diminutive solid wooden door at the western end flanked by two equally small rectangular windows.
The Seifert Bynoe Memorial Church Hall stands attached to the southern end of the church building. This building was dedicated on Sunday November 11th 1990 by the bishop the Rt. Rev. Drexel Gomez, the eleventh bishop of Barbados. The church hall was officially opened about one year later on Saturday December 7th, 1991 by the Canada Fund Administrator, Victor Matthews from the Canadian High Commission.
This small suburban church is built as a cruciform (in the shape of a cross) and used to function as a school; it is unclear whether the building was primarily used as a school that was shared by the church for worship or whether it was the other way around. In any case, after the Barbados government constructed a new school building, the original building was dedicated as a Chapel of Ease for the Christ Church Parish Church. St. Christopher's Chapel was then dedicated on June 6th, 1971 and shortly after in 1974, St. Christopher's was designated as a full ecclesiastical church.
The simple plaque affixed to the north eastern corner of this suburban church welcomes all to come and "worship the Lord in the Beauty of its Holiness".
