Scarlet

Scarlet is one of the latest additions to the bars and restaurants in Barbados. Located in Paynes bay St. James, obliquely opposite Daphne's restaurant and beside the newly built Paynes Bay Medical Centre, it provides you with modest lounging and modern day dining. This is one spot that can't be missed as the colour of the restaurant, both inside and out is the same as its name - Scarlet, which is bright red.

Barbados welcomes Scarlet as it is a London style bistro-bar which is a refreshing change to our normal style of dining. As you enter you are greeted with a disco ball hanging from the ceiling which is also popular throughout Barbados at other party spots which cater to "oldies music".

There are also pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Jackie O hanging from these scarlet walls. Ms Monroe was an American actress, singer and model while Jackie O (real name Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) was the wife of the 35th president of the United States of America J. F. Kennedy.

The bar, where the cocktails are served, is quite long and huge. Despite Scarlet's location, the prices are very reasonable and as per usual, the food is delightful. Main course meals usually range between $38 - $68 Bds. Desserts range between $18 - $20 Bds. Scarlet opens late to accommodate those late diners or persons just looking to have a late drink and relax. It can be seen as a drinking hangout and wine emporium instead of a full blown restaurant.

It is open from Tuesday to Sunday 5 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. as a restaurant and until just after midnight as a bar with it being closed on Mondays. Unlike many restaurants in Barbados the entrance is at the back of the parking lot. The dress is casual but for those who love to get dressed up, a nice flowing dress is great for the ladies and long pants are ideal for gentlemen.
