Barbados' festival calendar throughout the year is a packed one. So packed that it may not be at all possible for you to attend all the various festivals that take place throughout the island.

The month of January starts off with the Barbados Jazz Festival. A time when local and international acts get together to showcase the best in jazz.

The month of February is the month for Agrofest to take place. This is considered to be Barbados' biggest agricultural exhibition and festival.

The month of March is the time for the Holders Season. This unique 'boutique' festival is seen as one of the world's most attractive festivals with performances in jazz, blues, classical music, theatre and comedy.

The month of April is the month for the Oistins Fish Festival which takes place on the south coast of the island. This festival pays homage to the contribution the local fishing industry has made to Barbados.

The month of May sees the Barbados Celtic Festival which celebrates the unique fusion of African and Celtic cultures. This festival attracts many tourists from Scotland and Ireland who come to Barbados to absorb the history and festivities associated with this festival.

The month of June is the time for the Sol Rally event. This event has certainly become a festival as rally enthusiasts come out in full force to witness the Caribbean's biggest and best annual international motor sport event.

The month of July is when the Crop Over Pic-o-de-Crop semi-finals kick off. Throughout the Crop Over Festival, calypsonians contest for the Calypso Monarch title.

The month of August is Grand Kadooment month. Designers of costumes compete with each other for the much sought after title of Designer of the Year prize. Of course, the revellers are more focused on the essence of the festival and having a grand time.

As you can well imagine, there are many other festivals which take place amidst the aforementioned festivals and in the following months that are just too numerous to mention. An indepth look into our Barbados Pocket Guide can certainly guide and inform you accordingly.
