Secondary Level Education in Barbados (Private)

The educational standards offered at private secondary schools in Barbados are on a par with what are offered at government secondary schools on the island. Most of these schools are nonreligious schools and are therefore in a position to accept children of all religious backgrounds. The enrollment of students into these schools is not as high as that of Government Secondary Schools in Barbados.

The standards in these secondary level private schools are quite high as they have to meet the requirements that are set by the Minister under the Education Act. It is also required that they register as having met these requirements as well.

Assisted Private Secondary Schools in Barbados receive government grants by way of subventions, salary grants and bursaries.

In Barbados, provisions are made for 2 900 bursaries annually.
