Barclay's ParkIn 1966 (the year of Barbados' indepence) HM Queen Elizabeth opened Barclay's Park in the picturesque parish of St. Andrew. This generous 50 acre donation of rolling hills was given to the Government of Barbados from Barclays Bank International Limited in honour of the island's independence.

Not only is Barclay's Park great for picnics, many locals travel to this end of the island on weekends to rent beach houses. These beach houses are strategically located along the coast line and augur well for a relaxing break from the busy world.
On this side of Barbados' coast, the strong currents and powerful waves make the sea too dangerous for swimming but you can wade and look for sea creatures in the numerous rock pools.
