Mount Gay Rum Tour & Visitors CentreThe Mount Gay Rum Distillery Tour affords all visitors to the facility an unforgettable experience at the home of the 'rum that invented rum'. It is here that visitors are treated to virtual trek back in time where they will discover the closely guarded secrets behind Barbados' finest and oldest golden spirit. Mount Gay rum is over three hundred (300) years old and is still considered the best rum in the world.
Located just off Brandon's beach in the parish of St. Michael on the breathtaking island of Barbados, this facility will transport you back to a phenomenal time in the history of Barbados. Guests will be greeted by tour guides in a lush tropical garden where the smell of the rum flows through the air and tantalizing your senses.
You are literally drawn into the Mount Gay Rum Museum as this stimulating tour begins; and it is here that you will get to learn the history behind the Mount Gay Rum production here on the island of Barbados. From here the tours gets even more interesting as you make your way to the authentic looking Bajan Rum Shop where you get the opportunity to smell and handle genuine ingredients that are used to make these wonderful spirits.
The final stop on this tour is the much anticipated Mount Gay Bar where guests get to partake in the actual tastings of the famous Mount Gay rums to appropriately round off their tour to this historic rum refinery. Guests who have chosen to book the lunch tour will get to indulge in a sumptuous traditional Bajan Buffet which is served with a cold glass of Bajan rum punch blended of course with the legendary Mount Gay Rum of Barbados.
A Cocktail tour is also available but reservations must be made since this is a two hour tour where guests get to put their skills against a skilled Bajan 'mixologist' (Bartender) with their final products being judged in the spirit of fun which pervades the entire tour; and yes, there will be prizes for the best Mount Gay drink blends; remember children are not permitted to tag along for this tour.
Finally guests are treated to the Mount Gay Rum Gift and Souvenir Shop which carries all of the signature products and paraphernalia for this brand. This is the perfect place to get that local souvenir and of course to snag that old Barbadian Spirit at a great price.
